When I was a youngster, it was fear of being told "no". Also, when I was a kid up until maybe 4-5 years ago I was always really cagey about revealing my emotions about things in general, let alone girls.

It was something I had to grow out of, but I won't get into the long story of my upbringing and why I became like some sort of ninja with my emotions. Becoming more confident in general, and becoming more comfortable with revealing my wants and desires and emotions around others (which has helped every facet of my social life) is what has made me able to tell a girl about my wants and intentions with them and not fear relationship disagreements or outright rejection.

I've never been a one night stand guy and I don't really do the social scene thing. But the last couple times I've gotten laid was just by telling a girl that I was down to fuck, basically. I've done a complete 180 over the years and now I'm all about being upfront about my intentions and stuff and it works much better.

 

They don't have to tell us....we already know.

But I can tell you that going to high school reunions can be a really interesting experience. You'd be amazed at how many guys, twenty years later, are willing to tell you EXACTLY what was on their minds back then.

For most guys it would be the fear of rejection. Or they feel that the lady is out of their league. Some guys have to be "hit over the head". We don't subtle hints that women give us. Unless you tell a guy you want sex, with him, in a simple way he may misconstrue any flirting as just being nice. This is especially true of younger guys as Kimi said

What's stopping me?

Well, at work it's that if the object of your affection reacts poorly, it could end in a disciplinry hearing.

Amongst women I know socially, the fact that most of them are spoken for or have put me in the 'friend' box.

Though once one did ask me out and I totally missed what she was driving at and turned her down (rather oafishly as well, might I add). It wasn't until months later that I realised what she was asking. I still feel very stupid about this and now it is way too late.

I am still looking for the cure for being a fuck wit.

Fear

Fear of sexual harassment charges at work. It is hard to complement a woman at work for fear she might bring harassment charges and believe me it happens.
There are several women that look really good. Sometime just very classy and sometimes very sexy but I am afraid to say much.

I'm surprised, Kimi, that you aren't better versed on Sexual Harassment guidelines. Most organizations by now have banned any personal inter-office connections---meaning that you can ignore each other at work, but if you are found out having relations outside of work you can be terminated---even if it consensual.

Any flirting, teasing or comments that can be construed to have any gendered or sexual content are totally off limits.

At this rate, the human race is going to die out as more and more corporations go global and more and more people are actually employed by a small handful of multi-national companies.

 

If companies have guidelines that are that restrictive, they have no basis in law and are strictly a matter of corporate policy. Federal law defines sexual harrassment like this...

That clearly does not prevent two people who happen to be co-workers from screwing their brains out on their own time.

And if there are corporate policies against that, I submit to you that they aren't working. Furthermore, if you were terminated for such activity, you'd probably have one helluva lawsuit, because your employer would be over-reaching.

 

well what stops me is 1. I don't want a drink thrown in my face, and 2. I don't want to get slapped in the face by her or 3. having to deal with her jealous ass boyfriend who takes umbrage with my advances. Otherwise I'm all for it.
